Micah in the NICU at 3 months.
Micah is a 9 year old boy with
mixed spastic dystonic quadriplegia cerebral palsy. He was a 27 week Preemie who had a
grade III Interventricular hemorrhage. In 1998 Micah had an
Intrathecal Baclofen Pump Insertion. He is currently being weaned off
Klonopin, which was prescribed for
spasticity. His spasticity is now being treated with Baclofen. Recently he has started taking
Trileptal for seizures which began at age 8. In 1998 he had surgery for
subluxation of the left hip. Micah is non-verbal and can not sit, stand or walk unassisted. He is cognitively a couple of years behind his age. He is home schooled and receives private therapy 6 times a week.

Micah is a happy guy and enjoys a good story and a good joke. Currently his favorite author is Betty MacDonald, writer of Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle. He is learning to use the augmentative speech software Speaking Dynamically Pro to play games and to communicate. He loves to call people on the speaker phone and have his computer say, Hi this is Micah, what's happening?
